Between two Shores

Maybe it’s not a coincidence that
a human always chooses to stay close to the water, as water always works as an energy source or even a mode of transportation. But what if it’s a land between two waters?

The Curonian Spit is rich by two shores – the Baltic sea, that is washing its eastern border, and the Curonian lagoon, that separates this narrow strip of land from the mainland. By being right in the middle of it, a person is never too far from one or another shore – one or another source of energy. Maybe it’s not a coincidence that this land, that sometimes resembles a whole different planet, is divided in such an interesting ratio. If you share out the land evenly to every person living here you would get a number very close to π (3,14159), that is supposed to be the golden ratio of a human and his space.

Here space is supposed to be heard, smelled, absorbed and felt with all the possible senses – eyes do not reveal enough. Here you need to hear the whispers of the ancient forests, girls wailing the old Griekyno Linden Tree or the waving of the amber bay, telling the great history of this sacred place. You need to feel the anxiety created in the air by alien birds and to find inner peace by meeting the sun on one shore and binding her farewell on the other.
