Tijana Tamburic runs an all female creative collective called Female Narratives based in London. Apart from featuring in Forbes 30 under 30, being a TED Speaker and the owner of one of the most innovative new age advertising agencies, she also hosts a podcast based on her taking up challenges and learning how to be more vulnerable.

We also recorded a What Do People Do? Podcast episode with Tijana back in August and our conversation focused on a story she hadn’t told yet – her own transformation, the beginning of her business and emotional health issues as a creative startup owner. Here’s an extension of that conversation. Can you relate?

Here are some of the quotes from the interview with Tijana:

“They say men make better directors and women make better producers, because women are able to organise and men are better at explaining what they want done. I think women are finally challenging that status quo, saying: “No, I have a vision and a story, and I'm able to tell others exactly how I want things done”.

“I think of femininity as character traits: things like “nurturing”, “empathetic” and, in terms of looks, “seductive”. So many surveys are being done now about what we want from CEOs and what we want now more than ever are these exact characteristics. We want leaders that have empathy, that are nurturing, and allow their employees to have responsibility. We want maternal, feminine attributes.”
